perhaps the ideal psyche of a freshman should be that of wide-eyed wonder and zeal, with a surging fervour and the unmistakeable excitement of entering the varsity world.

his mentality should perhaps be likened to that of a newly fledged bird, slowly and unsteadily flexing its tender wings, perched atop the edge of its nest, eagerly peering out into the vast horizons that await.

a freshman should ideally possess the ambition and zest so often seen lacking in his senior counterparts (who have been jaded by the realities of varsity life). typically, he enthuses about striving towards academic excellence, or in fact, excellence of any form.

ideally, yes.

in reality, HMMMM..................

well i do have goals and all those nonsense, and i know what needs to be done to achieve them. but the prospect of being swept into an endless whirlwind of juggling not only academics but also other aspects of varsity life just daunts me incredibly.

maybe it's my inborn affinity with that big evil called Procrastination, but i am just not looking forward to all that work.

an excerpt from a conversation with huis during a shuttle bus ride on campus:

me - gosh, you know what? i cant wait to graduate!

huis - huh?! so fast?! it's not even two weeks into the start of school!

she has a point, really.

anyway, phone conversations with ellen have been keeping me going. at least that's one constant that maintains my sanity in this world of flux. i think it's hard to make lasting friends in uni cos you tend to start out sticking with familiar company; plus there's never a fixed group you always hang out with. then again, tutorials havent started so this verdict still awaits confirmation. i'll get back to you on this.

my earlier desire to get a hostel has now evaporated, for various reasons.

"i feel like giving that girl a slap"

"i'm here to get a degree. that should take precedence over evth else!"

anyway! was at ahxin's hostel (sheares hall) on wed, checking out her room. which was still in its boring original state as it was only her first day there.

that piglet cushion reminds me of arvato....

my german text.

Woher kommen Sie?
Ich komme aus Singapur.

:D

am really thankful for the company of azura and sarah in german lecture. sadly they're not in my tutorial group. :\ german is tough, but i'll persevere :)

why is it that his analyses are always so spot-on?
